Let Life be Good to you too and add this album to your collection, you will be sharing a smile for years.
The six years of waiting were worth it, with ‘Life is Good’ the band has delivered a killer album once again. The greatest problem for the band will be, how they fit in all the nice songs in their set-list. With ‘Life is Good’ the songs are stronger than ever, and you can find lots of nice songs on this album like ‘Reptiles’ and my personal favorite ‘Crushed’, displaying some nice bagpipes and violin. Flogging Molly is one of the best barrels, bringing forth the finest music after years and years. Life isn't always easy, and it's in these. Just like a very good whiskey, the years have past, ripening the writing, maturing the sound. + Dropkick Murphys are a band closely tied to their roots in Boston, proud products of a working-class neighborhood where kids suffered through Catholic school, grew up to be regulars in the local bar, and watched their friends do the exact same thing. The songs are very thought-through, more refined, without losing the Flogging Molly touch.
Life has been good for Flogging Molly, but this doesn’t mean they don’t know what’s happening in the world.īut of course the years passed by for these musicians as well, and this made the band even better. But will the band manage to meet up with the expectations of all these fans. Speaking of Celtic and Folk-punk, the first names which fall into mind will be Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys and The Mahones.īut what if it has been six years back when the last studio album was recorded? One thing’s for sure the fans haven’t left the band, because you can see them live at festivals and on other gigs. Years of hard labour touring the world, spicing up many festival, blowing the roof of lots of venues with their party music made them one of the very big ones in their genre. It’s called ‘Life is Good’ and I can imagine it is for Flogging Molly.Īlthough the lyrics are often on the downside of things, politics, society, relationships, and there’s plenty of that around the world, even in the USA, Life has been good for these musicians. Now it’s time for their 6th studio-album. A few years later their first studio album was a fact, and although the band isn’t very productive, album-wise, the albums they released were all beauties. Definitely an eye opener.20 Years ago, the first Flogging Molly album was released, a live album. Without spoiling the whole film for you there are some fun and more positive segments but they are few and far between.Ī must view film for anyone in the business or thinking about getting into it. A sad sight to see from an excellent drummer.
Another part in the movie he sells his drum kit to his dealer in order to pay the rent on his small apartment. At one point in the film Phil is in front of his computer looking at his bank accounts and seeing that he has amassed a fortune amounting to less than a couple of dollars. An eye opening experience that is brutally honest in it’s approach. He lost his wife, family and money to the world of addiction. His addictions caused his downfall but luckily he made it out alive….but broke. It shows Phil from on top of the world when he could have had it all except for the fact that the vices got in the way. It’s all here the sex, the drugs and the Rock n Roll. A friend first and filmmaker second Fabio gains access to the behind the scenes world of Rock n Roll that many do not get to witness.
Director Fabio Jafet documented drummer Phil Varone’s life for 4 years. This 90 minute movie/documentary is not your average run of the mill film.
